Privacy Policy
Wind Power India is run by Consolidated Energy Consultants Ltd. (“we”, “us”), which decides how your personal data is used. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, how long we keep it, who else sees it, and how you can have it deleted. It is written for India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect, why, and for how long
This is the complete list. We do not collect anything else about you, and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
| Data | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email address | To create your account, sign you in, send sign-in codes and service emails, and send the weekly news digest | While your account exists, then one year (see “When you delete your account”) |
| Password | To sign you in. Stored only as a one-way hash, never as the password itself | Until you delete your account, then removed at once |
| Plan, sign-up date, and the privacy policy version you accepted | To give you the features of your plan, and to prove your consent | While your account exists, then one year |
| IP address and browser type of each sign-in | To keep you signed in and to detect misuse of your account | While your account exists, then one year |
| Saved sites, uploaded KML/KMZ files, saved layouts and unlocked areas | Because you asked us to save them | Until you delete them. After you delete your account, only their names and dates are kept, for one year |
| Usage counts, credits and trial requests (with any note you write) | To apply your plan’s limits and handle trial requests | While your account exists, then one year |
| Which proprietary wind farm records you opened, when, and your IP address | To enforce the daily viewing limit and protect licensed data | While your account exists, then one year |
| Sponsorship details, if you apply: company, contact name, email, phone, designation, department, website, description, banner, GSTIN and billing state | To run, bill and review your sponsorship | While your account exists, then one year. For a paid sponsorship, the company’s business and tax details stay as long as tax law requires; contact details and banner are erased |
| Payment records: plan, amount, date, and order and payment IDs | To activate what you paid for, and because tax law requires us to keep them | As long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, even after you delete your account |
Who else receives your data
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the services that do a job for us:
- Resend sends our emails (sign-in codes, sponsorship emails and the weekly digest), so it receives your email address.
- Razorpay processes payments. It receives your name and email, and you give your card, UPI or bank details to Razorpay directly; we never see them.
- OpenAI writes the answers in the chat assistant, so it receives the questions you type there. We do not store your questions.
- Map services (OpenFreeMap, Esri and Komoot Photon) supply map backgrounds and place search. Your browser contacts them directly, so they see your IP address and, for place search, the text you type.
We may also disclose data when Indian law or a lawful order requires it.
What is stored in your browser
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser also remembers recent sites, open analysis sessions, panel sizes and any referral code you arrived with. These stay on your device; deleting your account clears them from the browser you delete it in.
When you delete your account
Your account leaves the service at once: you can no longer sign in, and nothing you saved is used again. Two things are kept, because the law requires it:
- For one year, then erased automatically: a locked copy of your personal data and activity logs (name, email, sign-in IP addresses and browsers, farm records viewed, usage, trial requests, and the names and dates of what you saved). Rule 8(3) of the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 requires this. The service never uses it; it is only for requests the law allows. Your password and saved content are not kept.
- For as long as tax law requires: payment records, which hold no name, email or phone number of yours, and for a paid sponsorship, the company’s business and tax details.
Your rights
To use any right below, email info@cecl.in from the email address on your account. That address is how we identify you. We reply within 30 days.
- Withdraw your consent and delete your account at any time, as easily as you gave it: from the account menu, or at /account/delete.
- Stop the weekly digest without deleting your account: use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any digest email.
- Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and what we do with it, and the names of everyone we have shared it with.
- Correct, complete or update anything that is wrong or missing.
- Nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
- Complain to us about how we handle your data. If we do not resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, which receives complaints online (see meity.gov.in).
- Read this policy in another language: ask, and we will send it to you in any language listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
Security and data breaches
Passwords are hashed, sign-in codes are hashed and expire in minutes, connections are encrypted, email addresses are masked in our server logs, and each account can reach only its own saved data. Server security logs, which include IP addresses, are kept for one year, as rule 6 of the DPDP Rules requires. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you without delay by email, and the Data Protection Board of India, as the law requires: what happened and when, what it may mean for you, what we are doing about it, what you can do to protect yourself, and who to contact.
Children
This service is for adults. Do not create an account if you are under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or why, we will publish a new version here with a new date and tell signed-up users by email.
