As per the information provided by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, installed capacity of wind power projects in India has reached to 47362.92 MW as on 30th September 2024. This means during the first 6 months of FY 2024-25, an aggregate capacity of 1476.41 MW has been added from 1st April 2024 to 30th September 2024.

MNRE Revises Offshore Wind Energy Lease Rules to Boost Sector Growth
It is learnt that The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has proposed amendments to the 'Offshore Wind Energy Lease Rules, 2023', aimed at streamlining the leasing process for offshore wind projects and enhancing regulatory clarity.
India Seeks Bids for 500 MW Offshore Wind Power Project
It is learnt that Indian Government has announced a request for selection (RfS) to establish a 500 MW offshore wind power project connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) as part of Tranche-I. The project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model.
A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 22 October 2024. The deadline for bid submissions is 10th December 2024. Applicants must provide a security deposit of INR 3.7 million for each MW. The project has a planned completion time of 48 months. The selected developer will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI, selling the produced electricity to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). The wind farm will span 202 square kilometres in the Gulf of Khambhat, near the coast of Gujarat, and will be linked to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS).
India Launches Tender to Add 6GW of Peak Renewable Power With Energy Storage
It is learnt that State-operated hydroelectric power generation company SJVN announced that India is launching a tender for 6GW of electricity from renewable energy projects with storage to ensure supply during peak hours. The tender will be managed by SJVN.
SECI Awards 600 MW Hybrid Power Project to Juniper Green, ACME, and Sembcorp
It is learnt that Juniper Green Energy, ACME Solar Holdings, and Sembcorp Green Infra have been selected as the winners in Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to develop 600 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)- connected wind-solar hybrid power projects (Tranche IX).
At a tariff of Rs 3.25 per kWh, ACME was awarded 300 MW and Juniper was awarded 150 MW. Sembcorp was also awarded 150 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.26 per kWh.
Suzlon & Jindal Renewables Inks 400-MW Wind Power Deal to Decarbonise Steel Production
It is learnt that Suzlon Group has secured a significant 400 MW order from JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd. (SPV of Jindal Renewables Power Private Limited). Suzlon will supply 127 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers, each having a rated capacity of 3.15 MW in the Koppal region of Karnataka. The power generated will be used for captive consumption in Steel Plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Bags 400 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project From MSEDCL
It is learnt that Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), has secured a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid project from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL). TPREL, has successfully secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from MSEDCL for the development of a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Maharashtra.
Inox Wind Ltd Receives LoI From IGREL Renewables for 550 MW Wind Project
It is learnt that Inox Wind Limited (IWL) has received a letter of intent (LoI) from IGREL Renewables Limited to execute 550 MW of wind capacity on a turnkey basis.
The project will be executed over the next 24 months across multiple sites in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. As part of the project, Inox Wind will supply, install, and commission the wind turbine generators, and provide multi-year comprehensive operations and maintenance services post-commissioning
Inox Wind Signs Consortium Agreement Led by ICICI Bank
It is learnt that Inox Wind, a leading provider of wind energy solutions, has signed an agreement with a consortium led by ICICI Bank to finance facility. This financial arrangement is expected to increase, based on a working capital assessment by ICICI Bank, the lead bank in the consortium.
TPG, JSW and Inox in Fray for Siemens Gamesa
It is learnt that TPG, JSW Energy, and Inox Wind are competing to acquire Siemens Gamesa Renewable Power's Indian unit. Valued up to $500 mn, the deal depends on contingent liabilities. Firms seek to bolster their renewable energy ventures. Siemens Gamesa aims to focus on core markets.
Avaada Group Commits to Renewables Storage
It is learnt that Avaada Group commits to renewables storage in Rajasthan. Avaada Group plans to set up a 1.2 GW pumped hydro storage project, a 1 mtpa green ammonia project, a 1 GW wind power project, and a 10 GW solar power project in Rajasthan.
OGL Signs SPA for 288.8 MW Wind Power Projects With PTC India
It is learnt that ONGC Green Energy Limited (OGL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with PTC India Limited to acquire the 288.8 MW operational wind power projects in India.
CESC Partners for Major Wind Project
It is learnt that CESC's subsidiary, Purvah Green Power Private Ltd, has signed an agreement with Ecoren Energy India to establish a wind power project of up to 686.85 MW. The project is expected to be completed within three years.
GE Vernova Signs Agreement to Supply 51.3 MW of Wind Power to Powerica Limited
It is learnt that Powerica Limited, a prominent player in both the Independent Power Producer (IPP) and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) segments of the wind industry with a pan-India wind energy portfolio of 280 MW, has selected to install 19 GE Vernova 2.7 MW wind turbine generators (WTGs) at its 51.3 MW project at Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat. The Project will be covered under the SECI XVI tranche.
NLCIL Targets 10,000 MW of Renewable Energy
It is learnt that Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) is targeting 10,000 MW renewable energy capacity by 2030. NLCIL ventured into renewable energy with 1,380 MW of solar power plants and 51 MW of wind power plants.

GAIL, AM Green sign MoU for 2.5 GW of renewable energy projects
It is learnt that GAIL India Limited and AM Green (AMG) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop solar-wind hybrid renewable energy projects in India, with a capacity of up to 2.5 GW.
